Hey I Am a Novice

Unread post by Sharona22 » Sun Feb 15, 2009 11:55 am

I became interested in wiccan because of it's harm none it's values of the planet and animals and because myself my dog and others had health issues i was hopeing to help everyone.During my beggining on this path I have met many wonderful helpful and careing people yet I also found the total opposite I have met persons who lied and took advantage of me and my kindess. I am still learning the very basics like I really would like to know what is the basic difference between wicca and hoodoo, there are also alot of ways to put together an altar to start a spell how do I know what do do or where to start. I am retired and hope that wicca and or hoodoo will be able to help me help others with their health and their life and give me something to keep me learning

Well the differences between Wicca and hoodoo are pretty big. Wicca is a religion while hoodoo in a system of folk magic that incorporates pieces of other religions into itself. Wicca also have that whole harm none bit, you just don't see that in hoodoo as a whole. Individual practitioners decide for themselves where they stand on hex's and crossing. The option is definitely there if they decide to. Many hoodoo products are made with the sole purpose of crossing or even killing people. Though, don't think that its all cruse throwing and hexing, for everyone hexing someone theirs 3 people doing money, love,or protection work. Over all its a diverse, adaptive system that stands out, at least to me, from the more stick in the mud systems where you must do things in a certain way every time.

Sorry for the rambling post. :) Welcome to the boards.
