Insects or Spiders as Omens: Ant, Bee, Wasp, Fly, Spider, Bug
Re: Insects or Spiders as Omens: Ant, Bee, Wasp, Fly, Spider, Bug
Hello, Nina ,
One come into the house last year and it was in love with me. It was always on my shoulder when I walked around the house.
I would put food in a dish and it would fly to the food. When it was done, it went back to my shoulder. At night, I put it n the bathroom sink and closed the door.
I was so sad when it died. Their life span is about a week and it was about 5 days that this fly was with me. I got attached to it..
It was like a tiny little bird! LOL
take care

Hi
I was wondering if lady beetles and dragonflies mean anything?
I buried a honey jar and started a new one on someone (same person for both jars, I just only had a bit of unwashed laundry in the original one and not much else in it, I have semen and more herbs/spices and a rose quartz crystal in this one so was hoping it would be stronger). So I buried the honey jar Friday night in one of my garden beds and while I was pulling out weeds the next afternoon I had a lot of lady beetles land on me when I was at that back garden bed that I had buried the honey jar in.
I also did a quick sugar bowl spell last night and when I went out of the front to bury the remains of it I had two dragonflies fly into my house as I was closing the front door when I came back in.
I'm not sure if any of it means anything to do with the spells? I haven't seen lady beetles in months and can't even remember the last time I saw a dragonfly.

Hello BabydollBunnyXx,
Signs are personal to the people who witness them because they vary by culture and are not universal, but if this was me, I'd take the appearance of the insects as a positive thing. Kind of like nature blessing your work. Hope that helps!

Hello BabydollBunnyXx --
Ladybugs, also known as Ladybird Beetles, are a sign of spring. They are valuable predators in the garden and keep away harmful insects. They are known as hard workers and have a special afinity for females.
Dragonflies are known for their fabulous mating flights over water and are a symbol of grace, artistry, and gentle sexuality.

Re: Insects or Spiders as Omens: Ant, Bee, Wasp, Fly, Spider, Bug
Hi!
I’m not sure if I’m in the right thread for this question... but something strange happened during one of my spell castings tonight and I was wondering if anyone could weigh in...
This evening in preparations for a love spell I was about to cast, I went out and picked some flowers for my altar. They were very beautiful red and pink flowers. I placed them in a coffee can for safe keeping. When I picked one particular flower and dropped it in my can, I could hear a bee buzzing around in there. I shook the can a little bit and tried to release the bee. I couldn’t hear it anymore and assumed it had flown out. When I arrived home, I left the coffee can on my porch for a few hours with the lid off.... just in case the bee was still in there.
I anointed a red skull candle, prepped my altar, laid out the flowers, and was about to begin my verbal ritual when the bee came flying out of nowhere. It flew around my house, and my cat tried to catch it. So did I (so I could try to take it outside). The bee is now lost somewhere in my house. I’m not sure if it’s wounded, or where it ended up.
I do love bees a lot, so I feel bad that I may have been the death of this one. But also am amazed that it survived that long and actually made it into my spell casting.
Any ideas? Does this seem like a good or bad omen to anyone? Just curious what others think about this situation.
Thanks!

Ianoydb --
This is a bit of an unfortunate omen, i am sorry to say.
Solitary bees go to sleep in flowers and worker bees from hives will also spend the night holed up if they cannot get home. So, since you say that when you picked the flowers for your love spell it was "evening," the bee holed up for the night.
Bees symbolize work, sweetness, cheerful cooperation, productivity, and success.
Alas, a bee trapped in a home is doomed to die -- and like a bird trapped in a home, unless it is successfully released, it is a sign of death. In this case perhaps it symbolizes the death of love rather than a literal physical death, but it does not bode well for the outcome of a love spell.
I have moved your question and my reply to the section on insects as omens.
Good luck

Oh! Thank you for this insight!
Once I read your post, I immediately undug the remains from my backyard, baptized them in Florida water and “released” my person of interest from the spell by verbally doing so and throwing the remains over my left shoulder at a crossroads.
Do you have any other suggestions for how to undo the spell?
Thank you!

Hello Ianoydb,
You did it correctly so there's nothing left for you to do.
Good luck if you decide to re-do your spell.

Re: Insects or Spiders as Omens: Ant, Bee, Wasp, Fly, Spider, Bug
Hello!!
I'm so glad i found this website!! I'm coming from New jersey!
I also wanted to ask anyone who knows if this a concern!
So I recently started in my journey in the craft and I have only done small things like sigils. Ever since I started I have noticed an unusually large amount of bugs around me. Little beetles, spiders, different types of flies, bugs I don't even know. They are focused in my room specifically. It's so bad that today alone I found a dead bug in a recently opened chip bag and again in a container of sea-salt.
Im starting to grow more and more concerned. One because It's gross and the other because bugs terrify me.
Is this a sign of some sort?
I'm going to activate a protection sigil on myself but if there are any suggestions to what I should do I am 100% open to it.
Thank you,
Cutiebunzz

When you say recently opened chip bag, how recently? Bugs are attracted to food after all.
Risen as in the phoenix.

Re: Spiritual Attacks by Means of Insects
I had a similar experience. I did my first smudge, and got 20 or more flies in my house. I've had odd issues with insects and juju blips before. while i did open the doors, this seemed like an unnatural number. I had to kill them for day. following this, I did a bug bomb (i don't have an insect problem). A few days later I found tiny ants in a pizza I ordered that I placed next to my smudge alter. I thought I was hallucinating. It was truly surreal. again, no insect line (as ants do, nothing else anywhere in the house). this sounds like i live in squalor..lol... my house is kept impeccable. My cleaning lady had actually visited the day before this. do insects ever mean bad spirits are leaving or entering? is there a tie?

Re: Spiritual Attacks by Means of Insects
Hello sculli3,
It's possible that there is a spiritual connection to your experieince with a sudden bug infestation, but then again it may be a completely mundane thing. I would contact an exterminator to rule out the latter, and get a reading from a member of AIRR to discern the former.
You can find them here:

I hope this helps. Good luck.

Hi everyone
I burned a break up vigil candle. The one thing that I’m perplexed about is the real life moth trapped in the wax.
I’ve checked online the forums and haven’t seen anything about bugs being in it? What could this be an indication of ?
Thank you

Good afternoon,
I started a honey jar spell for friendship today, burning my first yellow candle, and I notice ants coming to the plate and jar that I have set up.
I have done many jars before but never had ants visit them.
Is this a bad omen?
Sunny

Hi, Sunny,
I moved your post to the correct topic on insects as omens. You can read through the earlier posts here and learn more about what this might mean.
In my experience ants are seen as messengers. They rush about everywhere, delivering news to one another. People often take a message to an ant hill and bury it there with an offering of honey or sugar.
However, ants are also inconvenient in the home. They leave traces of formic acid on the foods they taste, ruining them for human consumption, and, if they are fire ants or crazy ants, they can bite you, which is unpleasant.
I would wipe down the area where the honey spilled and clean it to keep them away -- and i would also follow their trails to the outdoors, and speak kindly to them about your wish that they spread the word bout your request for friendship. You may write your petition on paper and smear the paper with honey, fold it up and place it outdoors in nature. They will find it and carry the news back to their nest, and soon all the ants will know your plea.
Good luck.

Re: Insects or Spiders as Omens: Ant, Bee, Wasp, Fly, Spider, Bug
Last year I've started doing extensive protection work for my family and reversing on a neighbour. I placed the religious candle anointed with protection oil on a window reflecting to her house. On the first day, a fly flew right into the flame and died on the spot.
I believe it was a positive sign. Flies to me represent ugliness and disturbances. They make buzzing sounds and land on food. Yuck!
Thankfully, the ritual was also successful in the sense that it removed crossed conditions and made the woman less present into our day-to-day lives.
How have you seen flies being interpreted in Hoodoo? I can't stand them.

Hi, Balkan Diviner --
Flies are definitely "bad" omens, so their symbolism will relate to the candle you are burning and its intention.
You were burning a candle against an enemy -- the bad neighbor -- and sought protection. The fly burned up! Good work! Remember, Beelzebub, "the Lord of the Flies" -- we don't want him around.
But what if you were burning a love light for a new partner, and a fly entered the candle and died? Not a sign of good work -- in fact, it would be a sign of interference in the love spell, as someone (an ex -- his or yours) or a family member or friend (his or yours) was trying to disrupt your intended plans. At that point i would do a closer divination on who the fly represented.

Spider
My tarantula decided to shed her skin in the midst of intensive Saint Francis of Assisi work, is it possibly related to anything, or maybe he wanted to give me a magical ingredient to add to a future work? But spider husks are for baneful workings only.
I was petrified this morning at 3 am because I thought she was dead. No, turns out my girl of 11 years was just having her molt process, as she does every 2-3 years.

Well, truth to tell, Tarantulas sheds are generally used in cursing work. I would save the moult -- it may come in handly some time. You never know.
