Sorry I missed tonight's Hoodoo hour. The access code given was incorrect.
BTW, in my mind, waiting to listen to the Hoodoo hour makes me feel like how
it was for folks gathering around their radios to listen to their favorite
program. I like It!

I was the one who booked the conference and sent the message to the group
(see below), so when I read Jason's message, I went back to the source to make
sure I hadn't passed on a typo to y'all.
However, the group message accurately gave the conference phone number and
participant access code as it was assigned to us for this show. I don't know
what happened, but hopefully we can figure it out for next time.

Me too! I got several belly-laughs, and much instruction, from
tonight's show.

BTW, a remark of Dara's inspired a question: she mentioned *dipping*
dollbabies in black-walnut tea in the course of separation work. I
have a dear friend I've done a bunch of work for, and she's so
frazzled by life that she can't get it together to take a simple
cleansing bath. She does, however, faithfully dust resumes with Steady
Work powder, sweep her floors with salt and pepper, etc. Since "the
spirit is willing but the flesh is weak" - would it be any use at all
to name a dollbaby for her and dip it in something helpful?

oh, MAN. I can't believe I missed this, but I was packing to go to Salem tomorrow. It
sounds GREAT. Please, PLEEEZE, Dr. Kioni--is there any way you can archive this for

Thanks very much for a great show-

I would have phoned in this question, but I was listening to the show by computer.

What happens if the other woman has a rootworker/santero etc helping her hold on to the man you are trying to bring back to his lawful wife and family?

A friend of mine's father went down to Brazil, took up with
this woman he can't get rid of, he's spending all his money on her
and he keeps trying to end it. Meanwhile his rightful wife and
family are suffering due to his failure to provide for them and be a
proper father.

My friend did some work to bring her father back but
as she is doing the work, the other woman admits that her brother
and mother have both been possessed by spirits as part of their
Brazillian folk religion (unfortunately I could not get the names
of the possessing spirits or details on the religion -- it would
certainly simplify matters if I could).

(Being "possessed by spirits as part of [a] Brazillian folk religion" -- an African Diasporic Religion -- is not at all the same as hiring a rootworker to get a man to leave his wofe. In fact, it is more like being filled with the Holy Spirit at an African American Christian church. In other words, the other woman's religious affiliation and the fact that her family contacts spiritual entities during religious services does not mean that she hired a sorceror to help her hold onto the married man. She might have hired someone -- but that would be outside the church srvices. I suggest you first learn a little more about African Diasporic religions in Brazil (there are plenty of quick tutorials online that will give you a brief introduction) and then get a reading from a reputable worker on whether the woman did or did not hire a helper to help her conjure the man. --cat)

I realise that this is a hoodoo list and it is not for consultation, but I really want to help my friend. My thinking is to put some heavy protection around my friend and her family, then work on the other woman and her helpers so that they are out of the picture. Any additional helpful comments would be most welcome.

(Well, that is the basic plan i would follow -- but first i would make sure that there *is* someone hired as a helper. You were too quick to judge, based on your misunderstanding of Brazilian forms of African religions. Map out the territory before you start a campaign on unfamiliar ground. --cat)
