I had a reading done recently and the rootworker spoke of my goal being met in three cycles. I was just wondering how long a cycle is time wise? is it like a lunar cycle?

No, you can't override a planet. There are retrogrades happening ALL the time. Its just more emphasis for whatever reason is put on Mercury Retrograde. Like it has been said before, you can work your honey jar during this time. It is not Venus retrograde, so you should be fine.

Thats interesting starsinthesky7, I did not know that there are retrogrades happening all the time. I was made aware of Mercury Retrograde last year and factored in into a lot of weird situations associated with communication problems but to learn this are words to the wise. Thanks starsinthesky7.

Many years ago a lady did a love spell on my ex. (on my request) The spell work like a charm. I even had him knocking on my door. However, by the time he came back to me I no longer wanted him. So, I call the lady and she told me to throw the bottle in the garbage. Can you believe after all these years he still wants me.

I have remain friend with him and he want to marry me. However my feeling are not the same. My question -could this love spell that was done so many years ago still be working ? I once was told that if you do a binding spell that would be forever is that true ? I really do not know what type of spell she cast on him. Maybe she did a binding spell not a love spell...She passed away this year so there no way of me knowing what type of spell she cast.

That sounds serious man. Though the bottle, some peeps say that you should burn it to break the spell. But I don't think you should do that because there might be back-fire for you.

This forum is for LuckyMojo products, not for general folk magic questions. How about you ask the worker you went to?

The worker died, so asking her may be difficult. Do a Cut and Clear to move on from the relationship.

I have been checking for the right days and times to do a spell. I have found that the moon is not always in the right astrological sign for the spell on the day of the week that it should be done. How important is the moon's astrological sign? Is it okay just to check moon phase and day of the week? Thanks.

Well, astrological timing is done to reinforce the work using the corresponding energies of the day, hour, time of the month etc.
If you are very gifted your own strength may be enough for the purpose at hand and you might not need to use the "perfect" astrological timing. On the other hand you may not like to "walk uphill" and use the right timing to make things easier.
Most workers I know use Moon phase, day of the week and hour.

But the only way for you to know what would fit your own gifts would be to cast a few spells using the moon sign and a few of the same kind without and see what works best for you.

"Can you recommend a book that lists these details?"

Yes, my Hoodoo Rootwork Correspondence Course -- several chapters in the book deal with timing by day of the week, time of year, clock time, moon phases, and directionality of bathing.

I also have a chapter in "The Black Folder" book on "Astrology for Rootworkers."

And you can learn Astrology by the simple no-math method -- with dozens of magical spells -- in "Astrology for Rootworkers" by catherine yronwode and Prof. A. F. Seward. Cover by Grey Townsend.

:? What would be the best time to do spells in general? I would like to do spells in the daytime, because that’s when I have the house to myself. (I live with parents) But I heard spells only work best at night.
The spells I want to do is --forgiveness, call me, and cleanse Yourself spell.--

The best time is whenever you have the time, energy and privacy that you need. There is often an 'ideal' or 'better' time in which to perform a spell, but if you can't work at a certain time, then you can't. The best time to do a spell is when you need to do it, and when you can get it done. Working at the most ideal time is a luxury to a lot of people. I'm lucky, I live alone. I can do work whenever I want to. But if the best time of the day is sunrise and I've had really bad insomnia, I won't be doing that spell then. I'll be doing it at a time when I have more energy and can really focus on what I'm doing. You have the privacy you need during the day, and that's when you want to work, so do it then. If you want to add extra oomph, you can look into planetray hours or performing specific work on specific days of the week. However, practicality comes first.

Many workers like to work at night because most people are asleep and their defenses are down. However, I do most of my work during the day when my husband is at work and the kids are at school. The house is quiet and I can concentrate.

There are many things you can do to enhance spells; timing is one of them. But the most important ingredient is you.

Someone told me they think that mercury retrogration is still continuing. I'm trying to see if thats true?

Is today still a good time to do spells for love, money, breakup, and removing blocks/negativity?

I want to say the MR ended on the 29th of September although various calendars say different. Anyway, in reference to your 2nd question, spells can be done anytime although some do them according to moon phases, days of the week, astrological factors...etc. etc. If you are working moon phases...the moon is waxing (spells for attraction: love, money) until October 4th when the moon is full. Look at LMs moon phases found here: http://www.luckymojo.com/moonphases.html for further details.

...when the moon is waning...spells are done for negative works...but again spells can be done anytime... for spells done according to the days of the week...do a search on the forum, it has been discussed several times...Good Luck!

Does magic have more of an influence over one sign than another?

Is there a difference in how you should cast spells on one sign rather than others?

Meaning, does it make a difference that the person you are performing love magic on is a Leo vs. Capricorn vs. Scorpio vs. Gemini, etc?
Thank You Saint Martha for all that you've done and continue to do for me!!!!

maduro01,

No. However, you can strengthen a spell by adding astrological spiritual supplies keyed to the persons you are trying to affect.

this was in a spell: "Look at this charm by the light of your lamp for one hour each night after it is the half night."

does that mean half moon or something?

and then it says: Look at your fingers which you must hold before you, while you repeat:
"77-77-77-77- ANANANAN -KAKAKAKAKAK."

do i just say the 77's quickly in pairs? like 77 1 second pause, etc.

how should i say/pronounce that? "ahhn" or "ann" like the name ann? and how pronounce kak like how it rhymes with knack? or "cock" like "cock your head to the right". lol SERIOUS question. :/

(this spells is to gain submission from men from The Book of Power by Idries Shah.)

Seriously? It means find a spell you can actually understand.

Seeing as this is a forum dedicated to Lucky Mojo's products and resources... Why not check out the catalogue and have a look at Follow Me Boy, Compelling and other such products? There are plenty of spells in hoodoo that will help you be dominant over men, and none of them require you to repeat the word 'cock' ad nauseum.

Hi all,

I have read some posts about corresponding timing and days on which to do spell workings. My question is, does it really make a significant difference what time of day or what day it is that I do the spell? There are times where I feel very focused and strongwilled about the working I want to do-but these times don't usually correspond with the days certain workings should be done on. I know positive workings should be done when both clock hands are up, but say if I wanted to work a spell for a job and career for someone on a Tuesday around 10pm. Would this be okay as long as i had a "good feeling" about the spell and i was focused at this time?
Thanks for your help :-)

Just do it whenever. Do it when your intuition tells you. Sure, some people work with moon phases and planetary hours and things, but that doesn't mean it has to be done that way. The right time for work is when you have the time, the minsdet, and the space you need to do it. So Tuesday at 10pm is fine. So is Thursday at 6am. Whatever. Whenever. Do it when you need to.

If I'm doing a 7 or 9 day spell for drawing work, I always do cleansing of my flat, a spiritual bath and start the candle work at the break of dawn on the first day, and I try to stick to that hour throughout the whole thing. Same for when I start a honey jar or light my first candle on a target. I try to do these during waning moon, if possible; if not I do it anyway.

After that I do it whenever - waning or waxing moon, Monday or Thursday, 10pm or 3am...doesn't really matter. Or if you just need to light a candle for a situation right now, then go ahead and do it.

I agree with NotDorianGray, go with your intuition. The great thing about hoodoo is that, for the most part, you can do the work when you need to as opposed to a rigid set of days, hours, etc. I do my work by moon phases and days of the week (if possible) because I feel it gives me that extra oomph.

Agreed. One time Cat clarified a timing question by saying, "That's paganism, not hoodoo." Her comment stuck with me. I've always resisted the heavy rules-based approach of paganism. No offense to anyone (I hope) but I always thought, "That's what happens when you put a bunch of women together. They get controlling and perfectionistic with rules." I find hoodoo to be so much more practical. For non-urgent or on-going matters, I'll work with waxing/waning moon cycles. But for pressing issues, I'd rather get the work DONE as soon as possible, rather than put it off.

Also, dunno if anyone else feels like I do, but I feel that the lingering sense of doubt, "Maybe my spell won't work because I didn't do everything perfectly," messes with me. Sure, the ingredients and processes have a vibration of their own and need to be utilized for best effect, but a sense of doubt doesn't help ME get into alignment with my intention. Touching on what you said, Angelina, I think having a "good feeling" about the work is important. My experience says that putting my full intention into the ritual yields results, no matter what day/time.

I agree that will, intent and desire are the keys to spellcasting. Now, I'm not much of a cursing person but the most potent curse I ever threw down was after being awakened from a dead sleep by my crazy-mean junkie ex-husband stumbling in at sunrise. It was primitive, primal and 100%+ effective. I said to him:
I hope you puke! I hope you dream of what your life without me will be like! I hope your teeth rot!
Well folks, it all came to pass...and then some. Did my angry words qualify as a curse/spell? I believe they did; I had honed my rage until it was sharp like a weapon. If I had planned out a similar curse/spell I don't think it would have been anywhere as nearly effective -- probably my conscience and sense of "make nice" would have gotten in my way.
Ah, those rotten teeth -- that was the coup de grace!

Half night means, that it is half time before the dawn. So if in your area sunrise begins at 6 a.m. for example, then you have to divide time from the beginning of the night before the 6 a.m. If night should be considered start at 12 a.m., then half night would be at 3 a.m.

But it probably too long to chant that spell. Although for determined mind, nothing is too long. Maybe you also buy product, like Bend over or some other dominating products. People here referring to Santa Marta as being a great help in that situation.

There are some sources that indicate that is the hour of the Spirits. Are you purposely being open or receptive to spirit visitation?

Exactly what does it mean to be open or receptive to spirit visitation?

Hello all Hoodooers Out There, hoping you can help me; I'm trying to do the Crossroads Spell as explained in the LM's Spells and Rituals. The problem is that I live in Eastern Time zone and we participate in the daylight Savings time, which was changed recently.

So...since I have to be at the Crossroads at exactly 12:00midnight, should I follow the old time (we went back one hour) or stay with the new time. (by the old time at 12:00 it will be 1:00AM) :?
Please explain what would you do if you are caught up in the same situation? I mean about daylight savings hours? :) Thanks so very much.
Shery

Some people leave a bowl of water on their bedside to attract spirit visitation. I add a few drops of Florida water to mine to attract beneficial spirits. You can also burn LM Spirit Guide incense in the room or anoint a candle with LM Spirit Guide oil to attract a spirit. Working with spirits is one of the foundations of Hoodoo.

This is interesting. I have been waking up during the same hours. I always have a glass of drinking water on my night stand for drinking... never thought of it until reading this forum...interesting.

This is not hoodoo related per se, but I have read in several sources that studies show we can be most psychic around the hours of 13:30 sidereal time; many reasons are speculated- one is that this is due to geomagnetic like forces emanating from dark matter in a region of the sky known as the "Great Attractor" which is low in the sky beneath Virgo at this time, possibly pulling on the Milky Way and it's inhabitants.

A google search with the words "psychic activity sidereal time" would bring them up, and one for "multi-real time display clock calculator" will bring you to a clock to track sidereal time, local and universal.

I have also heard this speculated to be one reason so many of 'us' - those of us open to psychic and spirit activity- wake around this hour, and/or have been increasingly waking up during the same hours due to worldwide increases in psychic and spiritual awareness. Interesting to think about, I know I have been waking at these hours increasingly so for the last several years, but also know it could be due to many other reasons. This one just seems cooler.
Thank you Saint Martha for hearing my petition and for your ongoing good works for myself and others.

NSU, this is so funny. I too wake up around 3:00am or 3:15am. I don't necessarily have any glasses of water in my room for this to occur. I don't know how true this is, but a friend once told me that the 'witching hour' was actually 3:00am not midnight. (?)

You can read what LMs says about full moon magic here http://www.luckymojo.com/moonphases.html and do a forum search for additional conversations on the issue.

I read all the posts about Mercury Retro & some say it affects spellcasting some not. To be on the safer side can we start a spell before Mercury and complete it during Mercury Retro period? The waxing moon phase & MR coincide this month - so is it ok to begin sometime 21st and complete it 29th or so [MR starts on 26th]? These maybe skull controlling candle spells, money or career spells.

Yes I'd complete it.

Like you said some workers take MR into consideration while others don't. I'd look at planetary influences while doing work - try to start a love spell on Friday, physic vision work on Monday, etc. - but in the end I do it when it needs to be done. I think I've started love work during MR in the past and the results seemed slightly erratic, but it might be just the target being weird anyway.

I was under the impression that this kind of stuff doesn't matter as much in hoodoo. If I was looking to start some love work next week, what would be the best day to start? And if I can't get it started next week, what would be the best day after that?

Remember Mercury Retrograde is all about communication...the lack thereof...slow..confusion...etc. etc.

So what does that mean? If it starts the 26th, when does it end?
