Re: HRCC: Hoodoo Rootwork Correspondence Course Questions and Answers
Hi lucky7clover,
The course is fantastic, you will love it!
As for your purchases, you may need another Money product to go with your Steady Work purchases, Also, I don't believe the individual components of a spell kit will qualify, but that is only a guess. Your best bet is to contact the shop, they will review your past purchases and advise you on what else you need to buy to qualify.
Good luck!

Re: HRCC: Hoodoo Rootwork Correspondence Course Questions and Answers
I have been slowly (as money allows) gathering the items required required for the correspondence course. Periodically I check the correspondence course page. I saw something that I hadn't noticed before. It requires us to be friends with Cat on Facebook. But I don't have a facebook. My husband and I decided a long time ago that our lives were a lot better without it, and we have found this to be true (for us anyway). Does not having Facebook mean I can't take the correspondence course?

Hi Goatman86,
My best advice would be for you to call the shop and discuss this with Mother Katrina. She can best advise you.
Good luck.

Hi, i can answer that. My reason for wanting friends via facebook is to stay in touch. If you do not use facebook, but do use this forum, we can discuss that, okay?

That's great! Thank you for letting me know
the only non-oil/ etc things I need are the CDs and name paper book. I normally make my own oils and stuff, so I'll probably have to buy everything on the order list. The upside to that is it will definitely take a lot of the time out of working, not having to gather/make everything from scratch.
I just ordered some herbs/ etc for some work, I ended up having to send a cashier's check because the system wouldn't take my card for some reason. Hopefully the card thing we'll work itself out. It was very weird to mail a check to pay for something lol

Hello to all!
I have recently been accepted into the Hoodoo Rootwork Correspondence Course, and received my book this week. Very excited to get started, and to learn both from Cat and from everyone here. I have already started reading through various posts and am impressed by the wisdom and passion expressed, and the experiences shared. So I would like to thank everyone in advance for the knowledge I look forward to gaining here in this forum!

Re: HRCC: Hoodoo Rootwork Correspondence Course Questions and Answers
Good evening,
I am working toward eventually taking Ms. Cat's correspondence course, though I feel it is not yet time. My first thought when I read the list of required purchases was $$$. ... money I don't have. At the same time, the requirements made sense to me. I recently posted a question in another section of the forum regarding eliminating blockages and the suggestions were appreciated and helpful. I feel as though I need to take the advice provided there before I pursue the course. There are some other workings I want to do as well. Those will fulfill some of the required purchases. In studying the list of oil, incense, powders and bath crystals, I notice that each product is in each category. This caused me to click on page after page searching for answers as to why. Is there a preferred method in Hoodoo for certain intents? For instance, I recently purchased Hot Foot powder because the powder made sense to me. Without the knowledge that I want to have of the traditions of Hoodoo, I would likely choose bath crystals for cleansing, purging myself and oils for candle work. Then I thought well but then you have this situation or that intent and where would that fit in that scenario? So more questions and more research, and the more I learn the less I know and the more I want to learn. So. In Hoodoo, are oils preferred (or incense or bath crystals or powders) for certain types of workings? Does Love me prefer to be used as an oil? Does Banishing prefer to be used as a powder? Or do these decisions tend to be made according to the individual circumstance, or combination of workings within a working? My research is far from complete and I am still reading and still exploring the pages and reading my recently acquired HHRM.

Re: HRCC: Hoodoo Rootwork Correspondence Course Questions and Answers
Hello, Sapphyre,
I have split, moved and merged your post to the appropriate subforum. Please be mindful of where you post your questions.
Miss cat has a list of what is required. So, if she asks for certain oils, then you buy those oils.
And the same for each category.
So, (as an example), she says t buy a negative oil, you can choose from the negative ones (hotfoot, crossing, etc). Then, a positive one would be for: love healing, etc.
She is very specific. Why? Because she wants you to have a well rounded experience with hoodoo practices. Each chapter will cover something that you can use and work with.
So, just follow her purchase guidelines. You cannot altar what she asks for. So, if she asks for oils, then you purchase the oils. If she asks for powders, then you purchase those powders. And so on.
Wishing you the best in your course.
You will love it !

Re: HRCC: Hoodoo Rootwork Correspondence Course Questions and Answers
Each form that a formula takes -- oil, incense, powder, bath crystals -- is suited to a different method of deployment. More details here:Sapphyre wrote: [For example,] Does Love me prefer to be used as an oil? Does Banishing prefer to be used as a powder? Or do these decisions tend to be made according to the individual circumstance, or combination of workings within a working?
http://www.luckymojo.com/layingtricks.html
Now, to return to your questions about these two particular products:
Both of them are available as bath crystals because cleansing and purifying is not the only reason to bathe, and there are other things you can do with bathwater after you have bathed.
Water from a Love Me bath could be fed to your intended. Water from a Banishing bath could be used to spike your target's cleaning supplies to clean them right out of their house.
They are both available as oils because oils are useful for dressing candles; and anointing (of people) can be done for both positive and negative purposes.
They are available as powders to dust objects that would be stained by oil, to keep your work inobtrusive -- or, more traditionally, sprinkled where your target will walk, either to lead them to you in love or to send them out of your life.
They are available as incenses because the smoke of incense is an offering to God, carries prayer upward and outward, and repels all kinds of evil. (Also, if you don't have a varied collection of herbs, you can sprinkle a pinch of incense powder on a candle.)
In my experience, the form you choose depends largely on the opportunities you have.
You can also mix and match formulas to fine-tune your work. I generally mix King Solomon Wisdom into love work, for instance. I don't always just blend the two oils, though you can certainly do that; sometimes I use them alternately, or put a drop of King Solomon Wisdom Oil on a little mound of love incense, or the other way 'round -- just for starters.
When each formula comes in four different forms, the possibilities for your workings are multiplied many times over.
Good luck,
Miss Michaele

Hey ya'll! I haven't posted in here for quite some time. I had some stuff going on in my personal life, but kept practicing by using the products that I had accumulated from ordering all of the required purchases. I'm happy to say that I had my interview with Miss Cat today and was accepted into the course! Now I just need to round up the money I need to order the textbook and I will be good to go! Thanks to everyone who has helped me out on here and gotten me to this point! You guys are awesome!

Blessings Cat,
I read the requirements for the course and wanted to know does the purchase history on your site have to be exactly four months or more? If I wanted to purchase everything within three months would that be acceptable?

Re: HRCC: Hoodoo Rootwork Correspondence Course Questions and Answers
Hi, I am just curious if it is possible or worth of Ms. Cat's time to offer a "basic-to medium" course for beginners like me via Skype to a group of people with the same requirements of the current correspondence course - purchasing LM products, minimum 4 mos. customer of LM, enthusiastic to learn step-by-step, etc. I have purchased her book as well, but I am visual and tend to grasp things better via phone/in-person. If there are interest from other loyal LM customers, I would definitely like to sign up and learn. It may be a little shorter not as long as 3 weeks/all day program. Then, once we start practicing for a few months, the next steps maybe qualification to enroll in a more in-depth correspondence course. I hope I'm making sense.

Re: HRCC: Hoodoo Rootwork Correspondence Course Questions and Answers
Hello, I hope I'm posting the question on the right forum. Thought I'd ask this and it's probably a question for Ms. Cat.
Do you think it would be possible for you to have beginners class/course (including step-by-step) for people like me who is into it with the same requirements as your current HRCC course -- i.e. purchase products, course fee, books, interview by Ms. Cat, etc.. Can it be done via Skype? Is it worthwhile your time to offer beginners course (I know it's such an in depth course), but if it is worthwhile, I would like to sign up and be the FIRST ONE IN LINE
).
I have done a couple of spells, purchase a lot of LM products and enjoyed reading your book Paper In My Shoe. Somehow I feel like I'm missing something.

Hi jump,
That is definitely a question for Miss Cat. However the course is not complicated and is a very good foundation of knowledge. You should look into it.
Good luck.

Question Regarding Conjure Oils from List:
Blessings,
I am going through the products to see which ones I will purchase for the required items for the course. Which oils fall into the "negative work" category? Also, could I purchase let's say, mandrake oil or some other general oil used for love, money, and protection to count as one my oils in the love, money, and protections category?
Many Thanks,
Kamara

Re: HRCC: Hoodoo Rootwork Correspondence Course Questions and Answers
jump, I did have some problems with the course -- but they weren't so much confusion with unfamiliar material, so much as my own attitudes toward some of the homework. You can finish the course in a year, but I advise taking more time. If you are accepted, join the Yahoo group so you can read the extremely informative archives and ask questions. I only knew some very small more-or-less Wiccan candle spells when I started the course -- almost a blank slate, but not quite. The course taught me most of the best things I know about spiritual work, and showed me how to evaluate other sources of instruction in the wider world.
Good luck,

LunaKStrega --
Please read previous posts on this topic.
Choosing negative products is as simple as reading their names: Hot Foot, Damnation, Destruction, Reversing, DUME. If you want to "fudge" on the negative products, you probably should not take this course. It is a full-spectrum course. You will not need to USE those products, but you need to smell them, touch them, compare them to other products, and understand their usage if you want to learn this form of work.
Ditto with the love, money, and protection oils -- don't go all fancy or all "all-purpose." Buy the most popular types, learn the basics of the work. You will want to smell, touch, and compare these goods with others. A simple "root in oil" like Mandrake Root in Oil is not at all like a popular and traditional hoodoo blend such as Money Drawing Oil or Kiss Me Now Oil.
jump --
I -- and my friends -- teach beginner-level workshops for newbies at the Hoodoo Heritage Festival and have been doing so for years. Come on out, May 14-15 if you are interested. No skype -- real people! Meanwhile, the book course i teach is simple enough that any person with a high school education can follow it, so i feel no need to make a simpler version of it.

Hello. I have an interview with Ms. Cat. today. Feel excited and a little scared and waited a while before going down this road and calling about this course. I need some prayer, vibes, etc. because hoodoo works for me and I want to use it help the elderly people I take care of as well as their families. Also, have some family that need and for myself my very selfish purpose of wanting to heal myself. Thanks.

Re: HRCC: Hoodoo Rootwork Correspondence Course Questions and Answers
Thank you Miss Cat. I've started reading it like a book first. It is intellectually and spiritually dense material. There are no throw away sentences and it is truly a textbook. I LOVE it and my student number made me pause and cry a little for personal reasons. It is a tremendous confirmation that I did the right thing in enrolling in this course. Thanks again. P.S. I didn't hesitate to enroll even with a full courseload of nursing classes and full time job. You said one time that a person can't call themselves a rootdoctor, doctor so and so,etc. if they don't LOVE people...something to that effect and that really made me think.
Re: HRCC: Hoodoo Rootwork Correspondence Course Questions and Answers
I am extremely interested in taking the correspondence course and have purchased and started to read a bit of the curriculum. My only concern is this: I live with someone who is not fully aware of my practice. He just thinks I like fancy candles and incense and pray and mop the floors a lot.Is it feasible to do this course under these circumstances? I have my own space where I keep my altars and conjure supplies, but I can't get there every day. Please advise and thanks in advance!

Hello, snouvavou ,
You're fine.
You don't have to perform spells all the time.
And, most, you can do in secret. Take a look at the homework page: http://luckymojo.com/mojocourse.html
You'll be fine
Take care

Re: HRCC: Hoodoo Rootwork Correspondence Course Questions and Answers
Well, in truth, i do not like to teach people who my be verbally or physically threatened or harmed if it is discovered that they are taking the course. Likewise, you must sign up under your real name -- no hiding behind fake names. So, under those conditions, i do take students -- but there are other qualifying conditions as well. As Aida said, see: http://luckymojo.com/mojocourse.html

I don't think I would be threatened or harmed upon discovery. It just might weird him out and make him suspicious of me. I had a little string of bad luck last year and he joked about "who did I make angry" and finding peppers and chicken feet tied to my car. He deals with African-Americans quite a bit at work, so hoodoo is in his consciousness, but only as a way to harm. As far as the rest of the criteria for the class, none of that should be a problem. I am a Southerner with a lot of interaction with and friendships with African-Americans, after all. I will meditate on this and pray for a positive way to make this happen!

This forum is very informative. I'm learning a lot just by reading the posts.
I have started reading Hoodoo in Theory and Practice as a first step towards applying to be a student of this course.

Re: HRCC: Hoodoo Rootwork Correspondence Course Questions and Answers
Hello, jump --
I have written thousands of free web pages on hoodoo since 1994,
i have written and contributed to half a dozen print books since 2002,
i have been teaching on the Lucky Mojo Hoodoo Rootwork Hour once a week since 2004,
i have taught hands-on 3-week apprenticeships to groups of up to 15 people at a time since 2005,
i have accepted an average of 100 students per year via my correspondence course since 2006,
i have taught yearly public workshops to an average of 100 people at the Hoodoo Heritage festival each May since 2008,
i have replied to queries at this Forum regularly since 2008,
and i have published a newsletter since 2009.
I do accept individual teaching calls from clients (at my regular psychic reading rate of $60.00 per hour) and i have given private classes that way, but i shall not be adding skype lessons to my teaching agenda at this time -- i just do not have the extra hours in the day!
Basically, i am teaching a lot and i do not wish to add more to my schedule.

Re: HRCC: Hoodoo Rootwork Correspondence Course Questions and Answers
I'm not quite sure where to post this, but I was hoping to get some advice.
If any of you are still here that remember me from 2012-2013, you'll know I faced a violent reaction at my small religious college when my Rootwork materials were confiscated and I lost most of what I had purchased from Lucky Mojo. I had recently begun the correspondence course.
I can no longer remember my student number. My coursebook was severely water damaged and thrown away by a family member who didn't know what it was years ago. I had completed at least half of the homework assignments, and sent graveyard dirt from Ms. Sara Murphy's grave in rural North Carolina
After all the controversy at my school I quit college for a year, I was also coming out of the closet to family.
After a year of factory work I finally re-enrolled and graduated from a public university. I met my husband, there, who was on an exchange program from Britain, and we married in 2014. I spent a close to a year studying abroad in the UK and we've been visiting back and forth while working through the greencard process. We spend months apart.
I found a job as a high school teacher and have rented a beautiful little house. My life has really come together, and I was wondering about the possibility of finishing my assignments and purchasing a new copy of the coursebook.
I've been through several years of very difficult experiences and grown stronger. I'm now 25 and working, happy, and really want to finish what I started. Just not sure where to begin.

Re: HRCC: Hoodoo Rootwork Correspondence Course Questions and Answers
Hello everyone and thank you Catherine for not only this wealth of knowledge you have made available to the world but also for this platform in which I can feel comfortable and around welcoming and patient lol people. I have been reading the many pages of your website for about 2 years now. I have performed a couple of spells but nothing too much (that is until the last couple of days leading up to today.) I hope that one day you will see fit that I have what you are looking for in a student.
But anywho, my question is; would Clarity oil be a qualifying purchase to attend the course? I plan to purchase them all anyways but I just wanted to be clear lol about it. Thank you again. You will be hearing a lot from me.
By the way I spoke with you on Facebook a couple of days ago about a dream dealing with child support and crossing oils. I know you speak to many people during your day so not remembering is expected lol. The case went well. Poppy seeds alum chubks and cayenne did the trick.

Hello, Pheonix_410,
I believe that "Clarity" does NOT fall under the categories of love, money, protection, or negative work.
So, I would say: "No"
Sorry!!

Re: HRCC: Hoodoo Rootwork Correspondence Course Questions and Answers
Greetings!
Just placed an order today! I have ordered in the past, but this time I'm doing so with the intention and hope of taking Ms Cat's Correspondence Course! YAY! I'm excited.
I live in one of the towns Mr Hyatt interviewed rootworkers in all those years ago. I have a desire of doing research in the community here in hopes of finding descendants and/or any surviving rootworkers still here. Wouldn't that be neat?

Hi Everyone! This has been a very informative and helpful thread. I have been ordering products over the past several months and have been working with some of them both for myself and others. I love how the instructions on how to use these products are clear and easy to understand and follow. My favorites are the Crown of Success oil and Road Opening oil especially before I attend any important meetings. Also, when my partner's company underwent an audit last week, I worked with information from Paper in My Shoe to help him achieve a successful audit. I hope to eventually qualify to enroll in the HRCC course so that I can understand better the history of where this work came from.
P.S. I like the suggestion that was posted on this thread to call the shop when in doubt if one has fulfilled all the required purchases

Re: HRCC: Hoodoo Rootwork Correspondence Course Questions and Answers
Greetings from Virginia. I am happy to meet everyone and am excited to begin my journey into the world of Hoodoo. I started about 3 years ago by reading Cat's book, "Hoodoo Herb & Root Magic." I had hoped to begin seriously studying Hoodoo at that time but it was not to be. Now I have the time to devote to study and practice. I am preparing myself for the process and will be reading and working over the next year. I hope to then be ready to enroll in this program. It appears rigorous but I have found that nothing worth mastering is easy and it requires hard work. I am ready for the challenge and look forward to more interactions and conversations on this site.

Hello, DennisNg and medicingal --
I am always happy to accept new students, and i love working with and teaching folks. Welcome to the Forum, and be sure to send me a friend request on Facebook so we can stay in touch. The Forum also hosts the correspondence between students and myself, going back many years, and when you become a student, you will have access to those messages, which are all bundled in threads by lesson or homework number.
Good luck!

Re: HRCC: Hoodoo Rootwork Correspondence Course Questions and Answers
Hello!
I am quite interested in the rootwork course. In reading over the material I noticed that some steps require one to have contact with the African American community. However I am in Canada. Does the African Canadian community count? Of course many escaped slaves made their way to Canada, and the traditions of African American Protestantism are strong here as well.
Thanks very much for your time!

Hello, OwlTalons,
I don't know
I would suggest that you call the shop and ask them.
But, I kind of doubt it. Because the African Americans brought the traditions to the USA and assimilated in the USA. Therefore, there are probably traditional changes to accommodate the respective surrounding cultures..
But, I would call the shop and ask anyway
Wishing you the very best

Ah! Further reading has shown I can ask an African American friend online; it doesn't have to be in person. I can do this. Time to hit the shop.
Thanks again for your advice.

Re: HRCC: Hoodoo Rootwork Correspondence Course Questions and Answers
Hello, OwlTalons.
No need to follow it up "with the store." The shop is NOT the place to call. (Miss Aida was mistaken about that; i am the teacher of the course; it is not a shop project.)
The requiremens are clearly posted on the web page about the course. No, the African Candian community does not count. Canadians are not from the USA. The plants, herbs, roots, and such that grow in the USA South do not all grow in Canada. And Blacks who fled USA slavery gained other input -- from French Candaians in many cases -- that do not apply to USA Black communities.
I cannot be responsible for teaching African Canadian folk magic because that is not what i know.
I teach only what i know.
I grade only on what i teach.
You cannot graduate if i cannot grade your work.
I do not accept students who cannot graduate.
The fact that i am teaching conjure as practiced in the USA sends many folks spinning out into "yes, but ..." directions, so i just have to reel y'all in, time after time:
USA. Black. Hoodoo.
However, as a FOREIGN student, you may have connections to the African American community via the internet. That is also explained on the page, as you noted.
See http://luckymojo.com/mojocourse.html
That's sll.
