"Astrology for Rootworkers" has shipped from the printers and will debut at the 2023 Virtual Hoodoo Heritage Festival, June 10th - 11th, as nagasiva and i continue to expand our heavily illustrated bio-bibliography honouring Prof. A. F. Seward (1877-1965). We have to have the page finished by the time the book is released to the public, and we are adding new images and text daily. This week "Your Wate and Fate" offers more photos, artwork, and text drawn from my 12 years of obsessed research into the life of the eccentric Scorpio who invented Sun-Sign Astrology! My Patrons have been funding this project, and also want to thank Faith Elliott, who found me through social media, another Seward fan, who is in correspondence with me and contributing a whole lot of biographical information as we compile this complex historical web page. What makes palmistry unattractive to perform at distance? The majority of palm readers insist on an in-person reading which is quite understandable. But wouldn't a photo also work at least to a smaller scale?

That's a good question, BalkanDiviner --

A palmistry reading takes into account the lines in the hand, the texture of the skin, the warmth or coolness of the hand, the thickness or thinness of the mounts, the form and thickness of the bones, the way the hands are held at rest and during movement, and the firmness or resistance to pressure of the musculature. A photo or an ink-print only conveys the lines and a small indication of the mounts.

For example, the measure of thumb-resistance is a significant marker to many palmists, as is the inclination of the little finger when the hand is slightly curled. A flat-splayed hand print or photo gives no hint as to the quality of these important significators.

Reading palms from a photo is like reading astrology from the Sun sign only. It certainly can be done, but it is not as thorough as most palm readers would actually like it to be.
