Hello from Joshua
Hello all,
My name's Joshua, most people just call me Josh. I'm a paramedic and EMS manager/educator currently living and working in North Carolina. Originally I'm from West Virginia, and have had a small amount of exposure to conjure and folk magic growing up in the Appalachians. My great grandmother used to call it "boogering".
My other exposure to magic has come by way of Western Occultism over the last 20 years. While I love the intellectualism of Victorian Occultism, I'm really looking for something more authentic and organic. I found Cat's book Hoodoo Herb and Root Magic some years ago, and just recently began to recognize the similarities between African-American Conjure and the folk magic I was exposed to as a kid. Incidentally, I'm also a Babalawo, having taken my Tefa in Havana in 2004.
Having read through many other posts in this forum, I'm well aware of the distinct nature of Hoodoo regardless to any similarities between it and other systems. I'm here to experience and learn about it on its own terms, so no worries. Hopefully, I'll be taking Cat's correspondence course beginning early next year.
Looking forward to growing,
Joshua

Welcome to the Lucky Mojo forum Orunlade (Joshua)! One of the many services Lucky Mojo offers is this forum, where you can ask questions about how to use Lucky Mojo's spiritual supplies.
Here are a few others...
Lucky Mojo's online catalog that includes various hoodoo oils, incense, bath crystals, sachet powders, spell kits, and candles. (http://www.luckymojo.com/catalogue.html)
cat's online book of conjure craft: How to make mojo bags, lay tricks, burn candles and incense, use baths, washes, oils, powders, herbs, and roots, draw luck, love and money, and take off crossed conditions. (http://www.luckymojo.com/hoodoo.html)
cat's book, "Hoodoo Herb and Root Magic" (http://www.luckymojo.com/hoodooherbmagic.html)
Please schedule an hour to listen to the The Lucky Mojo Hoodoo Rootwork Hour. (http://www.luckymojo.com/radioshow.html
Last but not least, peruse the Crystal Silence League (http://www.crystalsilenceleague.org/) to post or request a prayer.
#1 Rule "Keep your posts relevant. Posts which are not relevant to the particular subforum of the thread on which they are posted lowers the value of the conversation and may be removed.

Re: Hello from Joshua
It's great to begin meeting all of you, and thank you for the warm welcome.
@ Lee: I'm in Lexington. Good to know there's someone close. I also know there's a graduate or two of Cat's correspondance course in Greensboro, about 45 minutes from here.
