Well I had read that since blacksmiths forged the steel it was lucky for them to hang the horse shoe down.

Their descendants with the name Smith were also lucky enough to not incur any bad luck by hanging their shoes pointed down.

I'm sure this is also from the British and Celtic influences.

I was looking for something simple and this is very much so.
